At Garnett Counseling, our group counseling sessions bring people together who are facing similar challenges. Whether you’re working through anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, or just looking for a space to feel understood, group therapy gives you that sense of connection and support.
You don’t have to go through this by yourself. In our safe, welcoming therapy groups, you’ll listen, share, learn from others, and move forward together.
Group counseling (also known as support group therapy) is a type of therapy where a small group of people meet regularly with a licensed therapist. Each group focuses on a specific topic or shared experience, like stress, trauma, or life transitions.

This virtual peer community provides a space for veterans to share their experiences with an experienced professional and other veterans in a safe and supportive environment. It offers an opportunity for veterans to express their feelings, help others overcome their difficulties, and improve their understanding of themselves and others.

The Seeking Safety group is a present-focused program designed to help individuals who have experienced trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and/or substance use disorder. The goal of this group is to address concerns without delving into the past, providing a safe and inclusive environment to help participants build new skills to cope with their past experiences.

Similar to a barbershop experience, this group is a safe and supportive space for men to share experiences, find encouragement, and build resilience in their personal and professional lives. This group addresses topics such as emotional well-being, stress management, relationships, career challenges, self-improvement, and mental health.

Gambling can be an enjoyable and harmless pastime, but it can also lead to a dangerous obsession with serious consequences. Whether it involves betting on sports, playing scratch cards, participating in roulette or poker, or spinning slots at a casino or online, gambling addiction can strain relationships, disrupt work, and lead to financial difficulties. This support group is designed for individuals of all backgrounds and ages who want to address their gambling challenges.

Acknowledging a difficult relationship with your mother can be one of the most challenging things to do, given the significant role mothers play in our lives. The term “mother wound” is not commonly heard in social media or even in therapy sessions. This group session aims to address and heal from the deep wounds caused by an unhealthy mother-child relationship.

The PUSH group (Pushing Upward with Support and Healing) provides social support to encourage personal development, enabling men to improve their lives and connect with others who share similar experiences and interests. Furthermore, the PUSH for Men group can foster meaningful connections with other men outside of work and family, creating a sense of community.

It is a support group designed specifically for spouses of veterans and active military members, providing a safe space to address the emotional impact of secondary trauma. Military life comes with unique challenges, including deployments, reintegration, uncertainty, and witnessing a loved one struggle with PTSD or combat-related stress. This group focuses on healing, coping strategies, and fostering resilience through shared experiences, guided discussions, and practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion. Spouses will gain support, encouragement, and a sense of community as they navigate the complexities of military family life.

It is an empowering and engaging support group designed to help young boys develop confidence, emotional intelligence, and positive social skills. This group provides a nurturing environment where boys can express themselves, learn about emotions, and build friendships. Topics include handling peer interactions, managing emotions, setting goals, and building self-worth. Through fun activities, storytelling, and discussions, boys learn valuable life lessons that prepare them for their teenage years and beyond.

It is a dynamic and interactive support group for teenage boys focused on personal growth, resilience, and leadership. This group addresses the unique struggles of adolescence, including peer pressure, self-esteem, academic and social challenges, family dynamics, and emotional well-being. Through guided discussions, mentorship, and engaging activities, participants learn to develop a strong sense of identity, positive decision-making skills, and emotional regulation strategies to help them build a solid foundation for their future.

This group is designed for young men navigating the transition into adulthood, providing guidance and support as they face challenges related to education, career development, independence, relationships, and self-identity. This group encourages open dialogue, self-reflection, and personal development, equipping participants with life skills, emotional intelligence, and confidence to make informed decisions for their future. Through mentorship, group discussions, and goal-setting exercises, young men learn how to overcome obstacles and create a path toward success.

It is a group dedicated to individuals who have experienced moral injury due to traumatic situations, including military service, first responder duties, medical professions, or other high-stress roles. Moral injury occurs when a person’s values or beliefs are deeply shaken by distressing events, leading to guilt, shame, or inner conflict. This group provides a space for open dialogue, emotional healing, and self-compassion, helping participants process their experiences, rebuild a sense of purpose, and find pathways to restoration. Through discussions, therapeutic techniques, and peer support, participants will work toward healing their emotional and spiritual wounds while regaining a sense of peace and self-acceptance.

This session is a meet-and-greet with counselors, therapists, and life coaches. Clients can speak with mental health professionals to ask questions about therapy sessions and groups.
